For years I”ve said sleep is under rated in this country and it seems the cofounder of The Huffington Post agrees with me. In a recent interview, Arianna Huffington discusses how she would like to nudge women into getting more z’s. She acknowledges that sleep is important for better health, productivity, and a more joyful life. I couldn’t agree more and would like to add beauty to that list as sleep definitely helps a person to look their best. Sleep experts recommend at least 7 hours a night for maximum benefits and sadly less than half of Americans get that on a regular basis. That’s a lot of tired people walking around not being their best self. Personally I have a strict bed time that I adhere to and I don’t read my iPhone or iPad for the last 30 min before bedtime. It’s proven that the light coming from the screens inhibits your body’s natural ability to fall asleep. The Lark Pro Wristband is a great tech tool to help you monitor your sleep patterns and nudge you softly awake each morning. It’s syncs to your iPhone and tracks how long it takes you to fall asleep, how long you sleep, your sleep quality, and how many times you wake up. It also comes with a sleep coach that offers suggestions on how to improve your sleep patterns. I love this idea! As a light sleeper, I often wonder what the quality of my sleep is and would love to see my sleep patterns and hear suggestions to improve. I also encourage anyone who is relying on Starbucks to get them going each morning to prioritize their sleep habits. I promise you will be a better you!
