Years ago a coworker of mine shared this recipe and it’s been a holiday favorite of mine ever since. I usually make this for a Thanksgiving appetizer if we are hosting. It’s super easy, unexpected, and delish ! The cranberry sauce is so yummy, a few times we have ended up placing some in a bowl right on the table at dinner time. Here is how…
Boil 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar until sugar dissolves, reduce to simmer. Stir in 12 oz fresh cranberries, 1 pureed orange, 1 diced apple, 1 diced pear, 1 cup chopped dried mixed fruit, 1 cup chopped pecans, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, & 1/2 tsp nutmeg. Cover and simmer, 30 min, stirring occasionally until cranberries burst. Remove from heat and let cool to room temp. Serve over 2 blocks of Philly cream cheese with crackers. **You can make this the day before and reheat for 2 hours in a crock pot on low before serving. **Also, I find the recipe makes quite a bit & reccomend cutting in 1/2 if you are only serving 4-5 ppl.
