This weekend I caught up on several of my favorite magazines and as always there were articles on how to lose weight. One even discussed the new “Hollywood Alkaline” diet. It got me thinking that everybody is focused on the wrong thing – what to stop eating (sweets, white bread, red meat, etc). If you are at all educated on what makes a healthy diet, you know that you should be eating – lean protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and drinking lots of water. I think if everybody focused on what they should be eating it would be a lot easier. At every meal or snack ask yourself what do I need more of today from the healthy food list? The answer will never be chili cheese fries or a doughnut. Focusing on all the right foods doesn’t make you feel deprived, rather it’s empowering.
